Childrens Portraits

As a parent I know how diificult it can be to capture that "natural smile" your child has a way of showing...but...not while you have a camera in your hands.

Babies can be quiet easy to photograph especially in the first two weeks.  They are happy curling up into a tiny bundle and sleeping most of the time. They allow you to pose them without any or little inconvience to them.

Only a few months later they change...stretching and staring into space without a care in the world.

Closer to the four months the baby develops it's own personality. Rolling, smiling and soon sitting.
Here is where  shooting can be interesting. I personally like to be at the babies level ready to capture that every turn and gesture.

Not long after is where the fun starts.   Toddlers  have a mind of their own ....shorter patience span, everything is interesting, standing or even an occasional run up.......be prepared!!

The trick to capturing them is..................
There is no set way.  All children are individuals.  Myself taking Santa photos for many years not only taught me patience but gave me greater
understanding  of children.

Not only by their facial expressions, but by the leg and hand movements.  Learning what children respond to and being very quick at taking a photo.

A Child has been taught to stay away from strangers at an early age.  It can be confronting in a new place and with a stranger asking  them to smile.

Tricks of the trade I call it....I talk to them and sometimes even play tricks that get then to smile...half the time I look silly even the parents laugh...but if it makes the child smile it is all worth it.
